Alex Corson - Board of Directors, Director of Volunteers
Alex Corson serves as the Director of Volunteers on the board at Sueño Monarca, bringing over a decade of experience in the mental health and social services field. Currently the Assistant Program Director at Thresholds, a leading mental health nonprofit in Chicago, Alex has dedicated her career to supporting individuals through transformative care and resource connection. Her journey includes impactful work on the West Side of Chicago addressing substance use and harm reduction, as well as earlier roles focused on child development and support.
Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Wright State University and a master's degree in Criminal Justice and Applied Behavioral Sciences from the University of Cincinnati. Alex is passionate about community empowerment and is committed to helping others access the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. Through her role at Sueño Monarca, Alex aims to deepen that impact by building strong volunteer networks and expanding access to meaningful support.

Coreena Besecker - Ascenso Mentorship Program Coordinator
Coreena Besecker is the Mentorship Program Coordinator at Sueño Monarca and is dedicated to supporting mentors as they build strong, meaningful relationships that empower immigrant youth as they navigate academic, personal, and professional pathways. As a first-generation college student who navigated the higher education system on her own, she understands the loneliness that can accompany the journey and the importance of having a trusted advisor for guidance and support.
In her current role as Sales Operations Coordinator at Hy-Tek Intralogistics, Coreena specializes in training, process development, and providing guidance to new team members, skills that mirror her passion for coaching, mentorship, and building supportive learning environments. Prior to her current professional role, Coreena has years of experience working with English language learners, at-risk youth, and young adults in transitional moments. Her early career in these educational capacities shaped her passion for creating inclusive and responsive learning environments. Additionally, her experience across mission-driven organizations and start-up environments has strengthened her skills in mentorship, individualized support, and community building. As a board member, she is dedicated to expanding pathways to confidence, opportunity, and long-term success for immigrant youth through intentional mentorship and deep community connection.
