Her journey began at the University Santiago de Cali in Colombia, where she earned her bachelor’s degree with honors.
During her studies, she gained valuable experience at the Human Rights Legal Clinic as a research student, examining regional laws for women affected by gender-based violence. She also served as a research assistant in Legal Sociology, analyzing Colombian social and legal issues such as the rights to education and access to information. In addition, she conducted research on the right to food for newborns in Colombia, which identified critical challenges faced by vulnerable groups, especially migrant women and their children, most of whom are from Venezuela. These experiences solidified her commitment to advancing migrants’ rights through research and advocacy.
She was awarded a fully funded scholarship from the Carolina Foundation to complete her Master’s degree in Legal-Social Protection of Vulnerable People and Groups at the University of Cadiz, Spain. For her thesis, she researched the rights of stateless newborns born to asylum-seekers and refugees from Asia, North Africa, and Latin America in Spain. She also interned at an NGO that supports these communities, where she gained firsthand insights into their experiences and integration processes.
Currently, she works as a legal assistant at an Immigration Law Firm in the United States, helping clients from across the world, primarily from Latin America, to stay and live in the country legally. Alongside her professional work, she volunteers in cultural initiatives as a Colombian folklore dancer, fostering inclusive and healthy environments for young people. She is now preparing to pursue doctoral studies and further contribute to academia and the international community by improving the lives of migrants and stateless people worldwide.
