At Sueño Monarca, we believe your journey shouldn't be traveled alone. Ascenso Monarca is a community where immigrant youth and young professionals (ages 18–26) connect with mentors who have actually "been there." Whether you want to master a trade, start a business, or navigate university life, we provide the network to help you climb. Join our 2026 founding cohort and turn your goals into a reality.
Mentee Frequently Asked Questions
-
We primarily serve young people aged 18–24. However, we welcome younger students who are eager to start their career journey early!
-
Earn While You Learn!
As a mentee, you will receive a Total Stipend of $375 across the 12-week program, structured to reward your consistency:
$150 divided into monthly check-ins ($50/month)
$75 at the Week 6 Midpoint for great attendance
$150 at Week 12 Graduation & exit survey completion
Because students get out of the mentorship what they put into it, progress is evaluated during monthly check-ins. Active participation, responsiveness, and consistent engagement are required to receive the final stipend.
Stay engaged, build your future, and get rewarded for your dedication!
-
There are no fixed dates, times, or set locations for the cohort. Because every student’s schedule is different, meeting times and locations are flexibly coordinated directly between the mentor and mentee.
Meetings can take place:
Virtually (via video call)
In-person at a public community space, such as a local library
At the mentor's workplace (if applicable, such as during an internship)
-
Safety is our priority. Anyone under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult or legal guardian at all times during mentorship sessions and program activities.
-
Nothing. The Ascenso Monarca program is free for mentees.
-
What is the time commitment for the mentorship program?
We ask for a 10 to 12-week commitment. During this time, mentees are expected to:
Meet once a week with their mentor.
Attend one Sueño Monarca community event.
Work toward a tangible goal (such as building a résumé, applying for jobs, or exploring career pathways).
-
No! While our formal cohort runs for 10-12 weeks, we understand that some goals are specific and immediate. If you only need help with a one-time task—such as a resume review, building your LinkedIn profile, or practicing for a specific interview—you can request One-Time Support.
Stipends are NOT for One-Time Support.
-
The Mentor Program is a relationship-based journey where you and your mentor work through a full curriculum to build your career foundation. One-Time Support is a "power session" focused solely on completing one specific professional task.
-
Absolutely. Many of our participants start with a resume review and realize they would benefit from the full 10-12 week guidance. You are welcome to apply for the full cohort during our next recruitment cycle.
-
The first two weeks are dedicated to building rapport, testing mutual commitment, and establishing a regular schedule. During these initial meetings, the mentor and student will map out their action plan and discuss specific goals for the program.
