Who We Are

Sueño Monarca thanks you for dedicating your time to support and empower our immigrant community. Did you know that as of 2022, immigrants make up 13.9% of Illinois' population? That's about 1.7 million people, including many in our own neighborhoods (Higher Ed Immigration Portal).

Sueño Monarca was founded with a strong commitment to support immigrant youth, inspired by the challenges faced by its DACA recipient originator and her family. Experiencing barriers like no access to FAFSA, the constant fear of deportation, and persistent uncertainty regarding immigration status, the need for a platform to provide these unavailable resources became clear. This organization was created to ensure immigrant youth have access to the support, opportunities, and guidance they deserve.

The Monarch butterfly was chosen as our symbol because of its significance in representing migration, transformation, and the strength to endure. In various cultures, Monarch butterflies are seen as the returning spirits of loved ones, symbolizing resilience. We apply this symbolism to our mission—our Monarca Volunteers embody the spirit of resilience and strength that we see in our community.

As a Monarca Volunteer, you will work alongside us to support Hispanic/Latine immigrant youth and their families, helping to provide essential resources, information, and guidance. It's okay if you don’t have all the answers—what matters is that we learn and grow together as we create lasting change in our community.

Sueño Monarca is a community-driven organization dedicated to empowering immigrant youth and families through mentorship, resource access, and advocacy. Our mission is to bridge gaps in education, legal support, and professional development by connecting individuals with the tools and guidance they need to thrive.

Thank you for being a part of this mission.
